Under The Sun
I have been listening to a book about "living under the sun". This is a concept of life that is just here on earth disconnected from God, eternity and heaven.
A Tiring Journey
Being a Christian can be a complex and tiring journey. Paul wrote in Galatians 6 v.9 &10 "Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers"
Can We Live Under The Sun?
If we take this "under the sun" view on life and cut God out of the picture everything can become grey.
Stunning scenery can fail to move us, we don't think of His gift of the rising and setting sun, there is no beauty in the rushing river, springtime or birdsong.
These things don't just happen
There are so many examples but these things don't just happen, they are God's creation, one of the many gifts He gives to us. Life without God goes in circles, you live, you die. It sounds bleak and, of course, it is. But things don't just happen.
Life Without God Is No Life
I hope we can agree that a life lived without God is no life at all; real life is only found in Christ.
I will finish with a quote from a heroine of mine, Joni Eareckson Tada. She is an evangelist who is paralysed and she has preached the gospel in many countries bringing hundreds to faith.
She says "I would rather spend life in a wheelchair with Jesus at my side than be able to walk without Him". As one who knows about wheelchairs, Amen to that!
